Home Improvement – Adding Curb Appeal to a Home

Home improvement

Home improvement is the process of improving or altering the interior or exterior of a house. This includes a wide range of projects, from painting or roofing to putting in a pool or new carpeting. A common reason to do a home improvement project is to increase the overall value of the property. Another reason is to improve the functionality of a home or to make it more aesthetically pleasing.

Many homeowners choose to use a contractor for large scale home improvement jobs, but there are also plenty of do-it-yourself (DIY) projects that can be completed with the help of the right tools and instructions. For example, adding a new deck or fence to a yard is an easy DIY home improvement project that can add value and curb appeal to a home.

According to the latest report from the American Housing Survey, the most popular home improvement projects include landscaping and yard work (74%), bathroom remodeling (67%), kitchen remodels (58%), and adding energy-efficient windows (46%). The survey also reports that the number of Americans who have built a deck increased by 275% from March through July this year, and hiring landscapers and installing fences has both increased significantly.

When selecting a contractor for any type of home improvement job, it is important to consider their experience and references. In addition, it is recommended that homeowners check the contractor’s insurance and license credentials. It is also a good idea to get a contract in writing that specifies the price, timeline for completion, and payment schedule, and to withhold any final payments until all work has been satisfactorily completed.
