What is Entertaiment?

Entertaiment

The term Entertainment carries with it a connotation of leisure activity as opposed to work or even extreme behavior. However, it also entails a method of attaining perception and highbrow growth. It can take the form of rite, party, non secular pageant or satire. According to Bates and Ferri, Entertainment is understood objectively, entails communication between text and audience from an external stimulus, offers pleasure and occurs in a passive form.

The word derives from the Medieval Latin inter tenere, which means “to hold inside.” It was used to describe something that is ingenious or amusing. Entertaiment often hits on the points the brain was evolved to deeply react to, in order for us to survive and function in a social world. This includes backstabbing, murders and other themes that are a part of our culture and social interactions.
